  Matinee Movies 

We are excited to introduce a new daytime movie discussion groupMatinee Movies. Featuring the same two films discussed at Critics’ Corner and meeting about one week later, this group gives more members the flexibility to enjoy thoughtful movie discussions in a daytime setting.  

We will be discussing 2 movies each month which you will watch prior to coming to the meeting. At the meeting, we will review and rate each movie.  Questions or cancellations please email Toni Tucker.

The following two movies will be discussed:

The Life of Pi : A 2012 adventure-drama film directed and produced by Ang Lee. The film stars Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Tabu, Rafe Spall, Gerard Depardieu and Adil Hussain. The storyline revolves around Pi Patel, a 16 year old Indian, and a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker, who are both stranded on a lifeboat for 227 days after a shipwreck. Stand By Me : A 1986 American coming-of-age drama film directed by Rob Reiner and based on Stephen King’s 1982 novella The Body. The film is set in the fictional town of Castle Rock and stars Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Corey Feldman and Jerry O’Connell as four boys who set out on a journey to find the dead body of a missing boy. The film’s title is derived from the 1961 song of the same name by Ben E. King.   Can Be Seen On: Netflix, Philo, Apple TV, You Tube, fubo TV, Amazon Prime Video, Fandango at Home, Google Play Movie
