The following two movies will be discussed and then rated:
The Old Man and the Gun (2018): A tribute to Robert Redford in his last leading role. He plays Forrest Tucker, a real life charming gentlemanly bank robber who escaped prison at the age of 70 and continued his heists well into his 80’s. The film was widely seen as a fitting swan song celebrating Redford’s legacy of charismatic, rebellious characters. The story unfolds with a nostalgic tone, blending suspense with warmth and reflecting on aging, freedom and the thrill of living on one’s own terms. A House of Dynamite (2025): A political thriller centered on the terrifying 18 minutes following the launch of an unidentified nuclear missile aimed at Chicago. The story unfolds in real time, repeating the same 18 minute window from three vantage points: the White House Situation Room, US Strategic Command and the President. The tension heightens as the characters wrestle with incomplete data, moral dilemmas and the weight of irreversible decisions. Can be seen on: Netflix
