Encore Book Group
The February 2025 meeting of the Encore Book Group will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday, February 24th, downstairs at Lapham. This month, we’ll be discussing "James" by Percival Everett, the classic tale of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is reimagined with a compelling shift in perspective: the story is told from the viewpoint of Jim, the enslaved man who becomes Huck's traveling companion. When Jim learns he is about to be sold and permanently separated from his family, he takes fate into his own hands, hiding on Jackson Island to plot his escape. His path crosses with Huck, who has his own reasons for fleeing—a violent father and a suffocating society. Together, they embark on a treacherous journey down the Mississippi River in search of freedom and self-determination.
There is always a lively discussion so please REGISTER to let us know you plan to attend.
