Encore Book Group

The January 2025 meeting of the Encore Book Group will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday, January 27th, downstairs at Lapham.  This month, we’ll be discussing "The Frozen River" by Ariel Lawhon, a gripping historical mystery inspired by the life and diary of frontier midwife Martha Ballard. Set in the rugged Maine wilderness of 1789 and based on true events, it follows Ballard’s journey as she braves countless dangers to care for her community. Lawhon’s novel is a powerful exploration of resilience and justice, showcasing the hidden strength of early American women.
