Encore Book Group
The December meeting of the Encore Book Group will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday, December 2nd, downstairs at Lapham. We will be discussing "The Marriage of Opposites" by Alice Hoffman.
"The Marriage of Opposites" is a historical fiction novel that tells the story of Rachel Pomié, a Creole woman living on the Caribbean island of St. Thomas in the 1800s, who gives birth to the renowned Impressionist painter Camille Pissarro; the novel explores the complexities of her life, including a forbidden love affair with her young husband's nephew, Frédéric, defying societal constraints and ultimately shaping her son's artistic destiny through her defiance and passion.
