Critics Corner

We will have our next Critics Corner meeting on Friday, March 22, at 7:00 PM, at the home of Lorraine Jacobi.

The following movies will be discussed and then rated:

The Holdovers – (Available on Amazon Prime, Google Play, and You Tube) A 2023 American comedy-drama film directed by Alexander Payne. Set in the winter of 1970 and carrying over into early 1971, the film stars Paul Giamatti as a strict classics' teacher at a New England boarding school who is forced to chaperone a handful of students during the Christmas vacation.

As Good as It Gets – (Available on Amazon Prime, Google Play, and You Tube) Misanthropic author Melvin Udall's structured world is flipped upside down when he's suddenly drawn into the lives of his neighbor, a gay artist, and his regular waitress, a single mother looking after her sickly son, starring Jack Nickleson and Helen Hunt.

If you enjoy going to the movies and love an opportunity to discuss the movie with other movie enthusiasts, then you should consider joining Critics’ Corner. We meet at a member’s house. After socializing over appetizers and some drinks, we then discuss and rate the two movies, which we will have already seen on our own. Each attendee brings either an appetizer or dessert and contributes $5 when they arrive to cover the cost of the drinks. Spouses/Significant others welcome!
