Roses will be in bloom as we tour the Untermeyer garden, a Persian style garden, in Untermyer Park in Yonkers, NY on June 4. The park was the home of Samuel Untermeyer, a wealthy attorney in the 1920’s and 30’s. He built an estate on the Hudson with extensive gardens in the Persian style, including a crenellated wall garden
We will be meeting at 8:30 in the parking lot in front of the Waveny mansion. After visiting the garden we will keep the cultural theme going by having lunch in a Persian restaurant called Shiraz Kitchen in Elmsford, NY. There is no admission charge for the garden, only the price of lunch, which will be shared equally by the group. We will need drivers for the one hour trip to Yonkers and everyone else will contribute $5 to the cost. Please RSVP to Liz Orteig: by May 28.
